*My new T-shirt will say-" I survived LAVA!!!"

So we had a spectacular time in Lava hot springs for the 4th of July! My brother Dave and his wife Joni invited us to go up with them and her fam. to go camping over night. Lots of food and fun abounded- the camp site was fairly po dunk and the bathrooms were quite exciting :) but overall quite enjoyable. So anywho the first day we went swimming at the pools- and that was radtastic :) My kids are little fishes (well mostly Bailey) and my bro Dave did running BACKFLIPS off the tallest tower!!!! He is freakin awesome and crazy!! My hubby went off a few times as well (I'm so very proud) and guess what??? I went off it once as well- I think that was the scariest thing I've done in a loooong time (and of course we don't have a picture of that :)
Probably best you didn't see me flying out of control with my chubby white legs flapping in the air for all to see :)
So anywho, the next day we went tubing down the river there. Many, many people were there, as well as many, many, drunk people going down the river! So anywho, I was so scared for my kids sake, they both had life vests on and sat in our laps but I was soooo afraid one of them would get knocked out and go drifting down the river without me catching them. This did not happen (thank the heavens above) but on one particular run down, there is this part in the river that has a big rock and creates a mini slide (this same place Nick tipped over with Owen on his lap and went under once-freakin scary-I think my heart stopped, but luckily they were OK)
On this occasion I was on the end of the "train" we had created (luckily no one on my lap) and as we went over the rock my tube got sucked from the back and I did a back flip off my tub and smashed my head on a jagged rock under the water. When I resurfaced I knew my head had a cut but it wasn't until some guy behind me yelled to my brother -who was holding on to my tube
"um I think she hit her head pretty hard, she's bleeding all down her back"
I felt the back of my head and sure enough- Gooey Red Goodness-
So I swam to the side thinking I was going to pass out and my head felt like it was on fire.
My brother had Bailey on his lap so he had christy & Kenny take her out and walk back so she wouldn't see all the blood. So anywho, Dave ran back like Forrest Gump to go and get the truck and to tell Nick that I was hurt (he had Owen and was waiting for us)
He got the truck and Joni's Dad Gordon drove around to find the clinic-which was of course closed- so they called for the sheriff who then called the ambulance (very humiliating)
I was fine other than the fact that my head felt like exploding- so when the EMT's got there he asked how my neck was and it was sore so they decided to strap me down and take me in the ambulance- very unneccasary -but to air on the side of caution Ok.
So anywho, to sum it up- *Longest ride ever to the hospital (almost 40 min away) especially being stapped down on a board with all pressure on my head. At least Nick got to ride with me.
*Some morphine and a cleaing later- I now proudly own 3 staples in my head and some nasty cuts on my knee
Happy fOuRtH of jUlY!!!!!!
** I'd like to thank Dave and Joni for inviting us and for all the help with the kids**
next time I'll wear a helmet!
**Gordon and Ina for making sure I was alright and for helping with the kids**
Subway rules!!
*Christy and Kenny for your help and distraction*
Good times were had by all!!!
By the way- no drunk people were injured on the river that day
Go figure!!!
